lyrics

one some dark morning,
this house was washed away.
black water ruins, but
the stone steps remain.

she slashed her face to
ribbons on the branches.
she’s running, frayed
from mental avalanches.

trees seem to repeat with
the ground beneath her feet.
she jumps the same hoops.
the wood’s in a loop, &

her whole world’s only here,
trapped within the static fear.
sing hallelujah.
we hardly knew you.

she hears the hounds
abounding at her ankles.
she runs, astounded
by their barks & rankles.

i caught but a flicker,
just enough to see.
i tried to be quicker,
but it found me.
